Environmental Policy
Blakely Pacific Ltd is committed to maintaining a high standard of environmental performance
throughout its forest activities.
Strong environmental performance along with economic and social performance is essential to the
sustainable forest management philosophy of Blakely Pacific Limited.
Blakely Pacific Limited recognises the need for continuous improvement in the area of environmental
performance. Through legislation requirements, operational best practice guides, industry standards
and certification systems Blakely Pacific Limited will strive to achieve this goal.
ENDANGERED SPECIES
Blakely Pacific shall at all times have regard for species that are endangered when performing its
operations as a forest owner. All practicable steps shall be taken where necessary and possible to ensure
the protection of endangered species and their habitat. Increasing our knowledge on endangered species is
part of our continuous improvement for staff and contractors.
Blakely Pacific has been a sponsor of the New Zealand Dotterel breeding programme on Matakana Island
for a number of years.
On-going native bird monitoring is carried out in the forests on a daily basis. All sightings are recorded.
Any users/stakeholders of the forests are encouraged to report sightings.
NATIVE FOREST / WET LANDS
Recognised high value conservation areas will be protected in perpetuity along with native vegetation
under the NZ Forest Accord, covenanted areas, riparian margins and boundaries with Department of
Conservation reserves, etc. Specific procedures, including monitoring of impact operations, are
followed to ensure protection of high value conservation areas.
